Rajasthan is a state in northern India known literally as "The Land of Kings or Maharajas." Rajasthan is famous for its vibrant colours, majestic forts and palaces, folk dances and music, local festivals, local cuisine, sand dunes, carved temples, and beautiful Havelis. Exploring Rajasthan on a Royal Enfield gives you a sense of freedom, a royal touch, and allows you to explore the wild side of Rajasthan.
This 12 day Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour takes you to some of the state's most famous attractions, including the Amber Palace and Hawa Mahal in Jaipur, Raniji Ki Baori in Bundi, City Palace, Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Blue City of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer fort and Sand Dunes in Jaisalmer, Thar desert in Osian, and tribal villages in Kuldhara.
It feels like you're in a time machine at times as you explore these massive historical structures that have withstood the test of time and continue to attract visitors. Rajasthan's emperors were extravagantly wealthy and patronised the arts. This makes Rajasthan an ideal destination for anyone interested in local handicrafts made of, among other things, ivory, wood, stone, clay, and precious metals.
A journey on the Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour is an excellent opportunity to learn about India's Royal Grandeurs.
You will be picked up from Jaipur Airport and taken to your hotel, where you can relax for the rest of the day. We will meet in the evening for a briefing followed by dinner.
On the first day of our "Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour," we will travel to Bundi. Bundi is a magnificent town 135 miles from Jaipur. Dotted with palaces and forts, the town has a fairy tale feel to it. Bundi's allure stems from the simple rural folk who live away from the crowds. After arriving in Bundi, we will visit "Raniji Ki Baori," also known as the "Queen's Stepwell," a famous stepwell built in 1699 by Rani Nathavati Ji, the younger queen of Bundi's ruling king, Rao Raja Anirudh Singh. The Baori is a mediaeval architectural and design marvel. Because local townspeople gathered here frequently at the time, baoris also served as social gathering places.
Following our exploration of Bundi, we will embark on our journey to Udaipur. Udaipur is 264 Km from Bundi, and we will ride through the wonders of Rajasthan, passing through small towns and colourful villages on Royal Enfields. We'll arrive in Udaipur in the evening after riding for about 7 hours.
After breakfast, we will begin our exploration of Udaipur and the surrounding exciting locations. Udaipur is also known as the "Venice of the East" and the "City of Lakes." Udaipur, the former princely state of Mewar, is a lovely city in Rajasthan. We will visit the famous Lake Palace, which is located in the middle of Lake Pichola and is one of Udaipur's most beautiful sights. It is also home to Jaisamand Lake, which is said to be Asia's second-largest man-made sweet water lake. We will also see the Udaipur City Palace, the Jagadish Temple, and the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandir.
We'll leave Nako shortly after breakfast because we'll be entering Spiti Valley for the first time today, and most of the roads are off-road or under construction. To begin, we will go to "Gue Mummy." Gue is a small village near the Tibet border that has a 500-year-old Mummy that was the remains of a 15th-century Buddhist monk named Sangha Tenzin. When the stupa that housed him collapsed during an earthquake in 1975, he was discovered. We will also visit Dhankar Monastery, which is over 1000 years old. We will arrive in Kaza in the evening after exploring some unique places in Spiti Valley. Kaza is 3800 metres above sea level.
Today will be one of the longest days of our Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour; we will ride 280 KM from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. Today, most of the roads will be highways, with stops in between at tribal villages. We will arrive in Jaisalmer in the evening.
Today we will visit the historical city of Jaisalmer, which dates back to the 12th century. The Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Qila, towers over the city (Golden Fort). The Jaisalmer Fort, unlike most in India, is a living fort. Within the fort area, there are shops, hotels, and centuries-old Havelis (homes) where families have lived for generations. We will visit Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli, Bada Bagh, and the ghost town of Kuldhara. After exploring these locations, we will ride to the Sand Dunes, where we will spend the night in Swiss tents and witness some cultural and artistic experiences.
Osian is an ancient town and a Thar Desert oasis. Osian is well-known for its collection of ruined Hindu and Jain temples dating from the eighth to the twelfth centuries. During the Gurjara Pratihara dynasty, the city was a major religious centre of the Marwar kingdom. We will visit nearby Hindu and Jain temples after arriving in Osian.
On the ninth day of our Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour, we will ride to Pushkar. Pushkar is one of India's oldest cities. Pushkar is located northwest of Ajmer at a height of 510 metres and is surrounded on three sides by hillocks. Legend has it that Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe, dropped a lotus on the ground, resulting in the immediate formation of a lake. He then decided to name the town Pushkar after the flower, thus the name. We will visit Pushkar Lake, Bramhaji Temple, and Varaha Temple after arriving in Pushkar.
The final day of our Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour, we will begin our journey towards Jaipur, but first we will explore Ajmer, which is located 10 miles from Pushkar. Ajmer gets its name from "Ajay Meru," which translates roughly as "invincible hill." Before heading to Jaipur, we'll stop in Ajmer to see some temples and forts. We'll arrive in Jaipur in the evening.
Today, we'll say farewell to our Royal Enfields and set out to explore the Pink City of Jaipur by car and foot. We'll begin our day exploring the ancient town shortly after breakfast. Jaipur has the distinction of being India's first planned city. Rajasthan's capital city, known around the world for its coloured gems, combines the allure of its ancient history with all the benefits of a metropolis. We'll see Amber Palace, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal, and a few museums. We'll return to the hotel in the evening for a farewell dinner.
Today we say farewell to Jaipur and conclude our Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour on a Royal Enfield. We will drop you off at the airport after breakfast, with the hope of seeing you again soon on the "Roads Less Traveled," Bon Voyage.
